Essentials of Medical Pharmacology book by KD Tripathi is with very detailed data, coloured pages, coloured pictures which will definitely help you to understand the basics of pharmacology, mechanisms of drug action very easily even with details. So I will definitely recommend you to read from this book but before the exam when you are preparing yourself for the upcoming war all the details of this book cannot be digested easily I think. Here to save you comes to the Shanbhag as the ultimate book with very short and to the point description of the chapters. So it is better to read Shanbhag while preparing for exams.

One thing I would like to add here, for many years the book by Sir KD Tripathi has not been updated (till now). We are very eager for its update as Medical Sciences is an ever-changing subject
